Associate Professor of Finance, NUS Business School. Also a student of Buddhist practice, and of Tai Chi, Xing Yi, and the Erhu.
Roughly how my time is weighted while teaching is still my main work. Practice becomes the larger share after I retire.
I teach financial modeling at NUS Business School, at the undergraduate and graduate level, and work on a mathematics textbook that builds its examples from finance.
I trained at Kellogg (Northwestern University) under Daniel Spulber, and worked in banking before moving into academia. My teaching centers on making the mathematics of finance concrete enough to actually build with — models, not just theory.
A long-running study of Theravāda Abhidhamma and Pali Buddhism, and a sitting practice across Vipassana, Metta, and Jhāna.
These notes started as an attempt to think clearly about ideas I was sitting with — the nature of karma, the relationship between mind and brain, what forgiveness actually requires. That's still what they're for. This collection will grow, especially once teaching takes up less of my time.
Internal martial arts, and the erhu.
I practice the Yang-style 108 form under 沈保伐师父 at Nam Wah Pai, and I'm working through 形意五行拳 (Xing Yi Quan) as a self-study from classical texts. Alongside that, I play the erhu — most recently an electric one, still finding its tone.
